The Eden 50th Anniversary publication “Hope, Healing and Community” has arrived and is available for purchase. This book is dedicated to all of us on the mental health journey. Over fifty years ago a community responded to a distinct need, resulting in the 1967 opening of a mental health centre in southern Manitoba. At the heart of this book is the story of a faith community’s desire to bring hope, healing and community to individuals and families living with the experience of mental illness.
The author Glen Klassen, has gone to great effort to insure that the publication will be factually accurate and at the same time readable and visually appealing. That visual appeal comes from Glen’s diligent work in hunting through archival sources to find pictures that connect to the stories. The book is not only be a repository of historical data but interesting for even the most casual reader.
