Description

This colourful medley of 28 narratives and whimsical visual images invites us to consider different ways of seeing and interpreting words that begin with RE. We meet people where they find themselves in their daily lives, and learn how they interpret a RE word as applied to their particular context. In the artwork, images of Every sheep represent the universal observer. The mixed media collages become extensions of the narratives, and the narratives become extensions of the collages.

Judith Rempel Smucker is a practicing graphic designer and artist living in Winnipeg. She has also worked as a design consultant, art director, and design instructor. Originally from rural Manitoba, she received degrees from the University of Manitoba and the Basel School of Design in Switzerland. Her design seeks new ways of combining word and image for effective communication. Another one of her books, Home, artistically explores the poignant question– where is home? Inspiration for her work comes from a range of experience: rural life, living abroad, commitment to the natural environment and recycling elements in our everyday lives.
